CELEBRATE YOUR LIFE

I can’t help but share these thoughts today….as this is the day I get to celebrate ME!

                                                      One year old!
When you think about your birthday rolling around, what kind of feelings does that elicit?
Feelings of happiness or feelings of dread?
As I’ve gotten older, I find that it is easier to think about the negative aspect of birthdays. Like the part of the  aging body having more aches and pains and not working as well as it used to.  And then there’s definitely more gray hair to color! Thankfully, I still feel young at heart…now if only the body would realize that too!
But, I think it’s good to shift our focus to celebrating US!

Think about when you hear of someone expecting a child, especially maybe as a first time parent. Isn’t there so much joy and happiness to celebrate this new life?  One thinks of all the hopes and dreams you have for this child and what the future will be like.

I guess it seems almost like God wants us to rejoice in those same ways once a year when our birthday rolls around.  There are so many things to celebrate.

After all, we are God’s child…a great reason to celebrate!

Over the years, I have grown to appreciate the specialness of birthdays.
They remind me that I am special to the Lord, and that He is Lord of ALL creation.

Birthdays make me think about the reasons to celebrate in the Lord…
…to celebrate the fact that our life is a GIFT from God.
…to celebrate the MIRACLE of OUR life.
…to celebrate how SPECIAL and UNIQUE the Lord made each of us.
…to celebrate the fact that the Lord knew us even while we were in our mother’s WOMB.
…to celebrate the fact that the Lord has a divine PURPOSE for our life.

Birthdays are also a great time to take inventory of how far we’ve come in our walk with the Lord and the direction we’re heading.

                                                    The current ME!
So, when your birthday rolls around this year, don’t worry about getting older, but rather…
REJOICE & CELEBRATE the fact that YOU are a special part of God’s creation!

When I think of celebrating ME, I can’t help but think of my favorite, what I call “life song,” Offering by Third Day. I know I’ve shared it before, but take a moment to click the link below and really listen to the message of the song.

For me, in my heart and soul, this song holds such special meaning and truly summarizes that

MY life is my OFFERING to Him for all He has done for ME.

This song is an older song of Third Day’s, so it was such a blessing to hear them play it live at the last concert I went to! Such a wonderful song!!

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  –Psalm 139: 13-14  (NIV)

OUR AWESOME GOD

Isn’t it truly amazing and mind-boggling to think about how awesome our God is?

I was overwhelmed with this thought as I looked at the vastness of this earth while cruising up some 37,000 feet in an airplane.

Our God is so awesome that He has more knowledge, wisdom and power than all the people in this world put together.

I started to think how man has used his brain and technology to do so much over the years.  Man has the knowledge to design and make airplanes that can fly over 500 people and all their luggage half way across the world.

Yet, man doesn’t have the power to design and create the space the plane travels through.

Man can make computers that produce mathematical calculations in hundredths of a second that would take a day to do by hand.

But, man can’t control or calculate the length of his life span here on earth.

Man now has the wisdom to perform delicate brain surgery, and in most cases have the person lead a “normal” life.

Yet, man doesn’t have the ability to create a human brain, or revive it once dead.

As I continued to reflect on the vastness of this earth and our awesome God that created everything, there was one thought that really amazed me.

Though I am such a little, little part of this vast earth, with all it’s surroundings, all the animals and all the billions of people in the huge world, our awesome God has the capacity to know, love and care for ME!

How everything, even my life, can be under His control is so awesome and mind-boggling!

Our God is so awesome that He does the same for YOU!

He knows, loves, and cares for YOU!!

How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth! –Psalm 47:2 (NIV)

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  –Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV)

TRUSTING FAITH

Have you ever thought about how much we end up “trusting” in our life? Throughout our entire life, there are so many people and things in this world that we trust our lives to.

When we entered this world, we were so innocent and helpless.  Our lives were dependent on our parents or guardians.  They took on the responsibility of supplying our many needs and nurturing us until we could care for ourselves.

Doctors are people we trust when we are ill and seek medical attention.  We probably don’t think that much about doctors, until we need one—that is when we trust in their skill and knowledge.  We put our very lives in their hands.

Many times each day we trust our lives to some form of transportation—whether it be cars, boats, trains or planes.  We just hop in the vehicle without thinking twice of the risk involved in the vehicle or the person in charge.  We trust that the vehicle will function properly and that the person operating it knows what he or she is doing.

Shouldn’t we trust our God even more than all these people and things?

Trust God to……

…fill that “empty” space in your heart

…be your Lord and Savior

…fill your heart with peace

…lead you to do His will

…keep you safe in Him

…provide people in your life to encourage you

…provide people in your life to help you grow spiritually

…make it through each day living victoriously even if your circumstances are bad.

God created the entire earth and all that is in it—from the white, puffy clouds to the littlest insect and to you and me.  He has enabled humans to do so much and empowered us to use our brains to grow in knowledge.  Our God is all-powerful and awesome!  Trust in Him and have faith that He will guide your every step.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.  –Proverbs 3:5-6
