PRIORITIES

Do you find that life keeps you so busy or distracted “doing” things that you barely have time to catch your breath?

With the beginning of the holiday season upon us and all the hustle and bustle that can be involved with this time of year, maybe we need to take a few moments to reflect on what it is really important in life.

Isn’t it so easy to see how doing  “things” can so easily take our time away from what we should really be focusing on?

Despite all the “earthly” things we are involved in, what is really most important?

That we remember…..

…WHY we were created….

To praise and give glory to our Creator

…WHO is really in charge of everything….

   God, our Almighty, sovereign Lord.

…WHERE our real home is….

   In heaven above.

While doing the routine things in life like working to pay the bills, running errands, sitting at your children’s games, remember to stay connected to the “source…God” in your life by…..

…praying for others and conversing with the Lord which can really be done anytime, everywhere!

…giving thanks to the Lord for things or people you are interacting with or that come to mind.

…listen to some inspiring music and go ahead and sing along (if you’re ALONE in the car..at least in my case!)

…take a minute to text or email someone to let them know you are thinking of them or praying for them.

…whatever and wherever you are, find ways to bless those you are in contact with your kindness, love and compassion.

                                                           **********

Try to not let “earthly” things take over.  Let us not lose our focus or let earthly things rule over us.

Don’t think when you are out and about in the depths of busy-ness that you are far from the Lord or not able to commune with Him.

I encourage you to look for ways to further the kingdom above all else, in everything you do!

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?   –Mark 8:36  (NIV)

  1. Well this is a timely message….it was exactly what the sermon was about in church this morning!! I always take notes but this one thing really made me think: BEFORE WE SERVE….WE SHOULD SIT. (STOP AND ASK GOD)

What is the “purpose” of all the things we do at Christmas? Do they cause us more stress and are they taking away from other things that may be more important? Is making 6 dozen cookies more important than spending time with loved ones? Should we simplify our Christmas list of things to do and prioritize? (like you said!!)

In the end it is not as much about the “serving” than actually “being in the moment with God” We can’t do that if we are rushed and stressed all the time. Priorities. Thank you Christine…and God…. for giving me this timely affirmation!

    1. Wow, Carol! Thank you so much for sharing your story to affirm my thoughts. That really encourages me and blesses me to see God’s sovereignty! You are so right…being in the moment with God…every moment….in all we do and are. Blessings to you this holiday season and always!
