GOD’S MIRACULOUS POWER

Miracles still happen today; healings still happen today too!

This week I am excited to share a current day healing with you all of a friend of mine that God brought into my life over 35 years ago.

Meet Ken and his wife, Sandy:

Ken has had his share of health issues through the years and in discussing his latest healing recently with him, it is noteworthy to say that I personally see God touching Ken’s life with three major healings or miracles.

The first one would be back in the early 1980’s around the time I met him through church. When he was a child he contracted polio and always had pain in his legs and couldn’t walk “normally.”  He was also born with a birth defect in his lower spine. Back surgery in the 1980’s did not give him much improvement. Some time after the back surgery, there was a healing couple who came to our church.  The lady laid hands on Ken and he was immediately healed from the pain and was able to walk normally though he did not even tell her what was ailing him.

What a healing from God!

Ken has endured heart issues through the years. In fact, he had a heart attack and did not even know until three or four days later.  Driving along the highway one day, he saw a car pulled over with a flat tire.  Seeing a lady with two babies inside the car, he stopped to offer his assistance in changing the tire.  As he was doing this, he started not feeling well and was not able to properly respond to the lady talking with him.  He knew he had to continue with getting her back on the road so he tried to work quickly.  Once the lady was off on her way, Ken drove to the closest gas station off the highway, reclined his seat and waited until he felt better.  (This was before the days of cell phones.) When he went to the doctor a few days later, he learned he had suffered a heart attack, had a 95% blockage and ended up having surgery at which time they put three stints in.

What a miracle that he was able to help another while having a heart attack himself!

Through the years Ken’s blood pressure has been high and he has been borderline diabetic.  His cardiologist told him he should start walking to get in better shape and to help his heart. Walking he did….6-8 miles a day with some days walking 15,000-16,000 steps a day!  This is something he still strives to do daily and he has noticed a definite improvement in the way he feels physically as well as the benefit of not being borderline diabetic and not having high blood pressure anymore!

Stomach problems have always been bothersome for Ken all of his life.  The last three years, the issues intensified and every time Ken ate, he would end up feeling sick to his stomach which often would lead to him vomiting as the food was just building up and sitting in his stomach.

Ken started not eating as to avoid being sick. He ended up losing 40 lbs with being sick every single day. Going to several doctors to find out what his problem was ended up being futile for quite a while.

At last there was a Christian doctor who sent him for a lower GI test which ended up being normal followed by an upper GI which returned normal results as well.  Still Ken was plagued by the daily sickness when he ate.

The doctor ordered a special internal CT scan of Ken’s stomach. The results showed that his stomach was all smooth muscle; not having any of the ridges normally needed to pass the food along. This condition is called gastroparesis.

There is no “cure” for this condition so the doctor suggested Ken make an appointment to go to a specialized hospital in Philadelphia, PA to get an internal pacemaker inserted in his stomach. Ken was to the point where he was willing to try this.  His appointment was scheduled for a Friday.

The Sunday before going for the internal pacemaker, Ken’s pastor preached on Luke 8:43-48; the story of the woman who had a bleeding problem that had defied doctors for many years. She went to see Jesus and felt if she could only touch his garment she would be healed. As Jesus was passing by, the lady touched his garment and Jesus knew some of His power healed her immediately.

Ken’s pastor invited people to come forward and Ken felt the urge to be one of those people.  The pastor had the people close their eyes and said to reach out and touch the hem of Jesus’ garment just like that woman did over 2,000 years ago.

When Ken did that, he had a severe pain in his stomach for a couple of minutes and then the pain subsided. Ken noticed he started feeling better and that night Ken could not sleep. He did not say anything to his wife or anyone for a few days because Satan was planting seeds of doubt in his mind as to if he was really healed or not.

Ken ended up cancelling his appointment for the internal pacemaker and then shared his story with his pastor and others.

The Jesus healing encounter Ken had was over 6 months now and he has had no stomach pain, and can eat anything! He continues to walk 6-8 miles a day and plays pickle ball a few times a week!

God is still in the healing business today, my friends!

Ken recently shared this story with his church family because we need to share the big and small miracles and healings with one another to help edify the Body of Christ as well as glorifying God. And as Ken said in his testimony,

“Some may ask why are you sharing this now? Well I don’t have an explanation (as to why I don’t have any stomach issues now) and neither do my doctors. Sometimes the answer is from above. Two thousand years ago Jesus walked this earth healing everyone who asked and he is still healing people today, all you need to do is ask and believe.”

As I was talking with Ken, it was interesting to note that he said he did not deserve the healing. Isn’t it true that none of us “deserve” any of the good things that God gives us, especially the free gift of salvation?

God in His infinite goodness freely gives us these gifts because of His love, mercy and grace for us.

Sometimes it is hard to understand how God works; why sometimes He heals one person and not another. Why did it take the woman with the issue of blood to suffer for twelve years before her healing?

We must trust God, continue to always seek Him, and glorify Him through it all. He is a good, good God!

If you are interested in hearing Ken’s healing testimony that he shared with his church, here is the link.  You actually get a bonus because after his sharing, there is a lady who also received a divine healing sharing her story.

O Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. –Psalm 30:2 (NIV)

And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God.  –Luke 13:11-13  (ESV)

Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”  –Luke 8:48 (NIV)
