SHINE BRIGHTLY

I read something this week that inspired these thoughts.

Consider an old-fashioned flashlight that uses batteries to shine a light for you to see.

*What do we do with a flashlight that starts to grow dim or stops working? Do we just throw it away?
No, we put in fresh batteries.

*What do we do when someone messes up in life and is in a dark space not shining their light?
We come alongside to help them.

*What if the person’s light still doesn’t shine?
We keep shining our light and sit with them patiently, sharing God’s love.

What if we view our life as a flashlight?

Is your life a bright shining light?

If it is, I bet God’s word is leading your life. You are probably enjoying a vibrant prayer life and experiencing a sense of community with like-minded friends as well.

Is your light becoming a bit dim?

Do you need a change in routine to get your light shining brighter?  Do you need someone to walk with you who will offer you encouragement and help you find ways to shine your light brighter?

Do you need some fresh batteries?

Do you need to reach out to others for help to recharge your batteries?  Do you need to cry out to God sharing your heart?  Sometimes we need new batteries so we can shine brightly once again.

What if we view our life as a battery?

How can we help another shine?  What kind of battery power can you “be” for them?

AA battery – offering affirmation, attentiveness

AAA battery – offering affection, assurance, advice

C battery – offering Christ’s compassion

D battery – offering direction

What kind of battery power can you be for someone today?

Be encouraged this week to be both the flashlight and the battery…
  • Let the flashlight of your life shine bright and strong.
  • Seek the people and ways to help your light shine brightly.
  • Think of ways you can be a battery or battery charger for others.

  • May your flashlight always shine for the Lord~
  • May you use your battery power to help others~
  • Don’t shine your flashlight so others can see you: shine so that through your flashlight, others can see the Light clearly~

Remember, too, even if your light is not shining brightly, God never gives up on you!

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”  –Matthew 5:14-16  (NIV)
