HOLY MOMENTS

If you know me personally or have read many of my weekly reflections or books, you probably know that I often experience God moments. For me, a God moment is something that happens that reminds me of God’s presence, His love, or His goodness. I describe it as something that can’t just happen by chance but rather is the result of a greater power called God at work. Continue reading “HOLY MOMENTS”

FALL TIME BEAUTY

We can experience God’s presence in many different ways. When I stop to consider that God made this whole world and everything in it, I am in awe! It seems natural, then, that we can experience His presence in everything. Can you think of times when you personally encountered God while reading Scripture, in nature, in the people you meet, and in times of worship and prayer?

One fall day, as I sat with my chair on a sandy beach, ironically at a place called Promised Land State Park in Greentown, PA, I was immersed in the beauty of creation that surrounded me. In the Old Testament Scriptures, the Promised Land was for the Israelites, the land of Canaan, which represented for them a land flowing with milk and honey.

GOD DAY

I want to share a simple yet profound thought, which I heard at a recent day retreat I attended. It will also serve as a challenge for us this week.

What does it mean when we say, “Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night, or even good day” to someone?

I believe in all these cases we are expressing “good wishes” to the person for whatever time of day it is.

Don’t we wish even more for the person? Continue reading “GOD DAY”

CASCADING LOVE

My birthday this year was quite different from most years, which I guess goes along with the theme of 2020!

The presence of friends and family graced my birthday last year as we gathered for a “celebrate Christine” event. People shared how my life has affected them, making me feel very special knowing that the God in me is shining through. I felt so much love, which made it my most special birthday to date.  This year, I had the pleasure of rereading all the cards and notes that people shared with me that day. I am hoping to reinstate the tradition next year.

The “celebrate Christine” crew from last year. Great memories except for the broken elbow!

This year was a somewhat quiet day for me as I, at the last moment, went to deliver paperwork and say farewell to a car that my two sons drove through the years.  It was a full day of traveling for six hours round trip, but God’s presence in the aloneness was with me.  After all, especially on my birthday, as I pondered the meaning of my life and how God is working in and through me, what better place than to be alone with Him? TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Have you ever truly reflected on the fact that…

What a privilege to know and appreciate as we live day by day on this earth!

Why do I say that you are the temple of the Holy Spirit? Check out these powerful words that St. Paul shares with us~

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? –1 Corinthians 3:16 (ESV)

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. –1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT)

And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. –2 Corinthians 6:16 (NLT) Continue reading “TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT”

GOD IN THE ORDINARY

Four simple words that a lady I was talking with this past weekend repeated from something I had just said.

I loved the thought she shared that made the light turn on in my head to enlighten me and see another parallel. Continue reading “GOD IN THE ORDINARY”

THE OCEAN REMINDER

As I was peering into the lovely blue/green water with the soft, white sand beneath my feet recently at a beach, it took me a few days to observe that every now and then a few fish would be swimming by my legs! They never brushed against me so I did not realize they were right there.

The day I finally noticed it, first a yellow and black striped fish swam by and then two sun fish. Later in the week there were schools of fish finding their way in the water. The thought of those fish being there intrigued me to think more about God and His infinite vastness.

THE MIGHTY MOUNTAINS

Gazing upon the mighty mountains recently in Estes Park, CO while at a Christian dude ranch for a week, was truly a breathtaking, captivating sight. Yes, the sight was like a little piece of heaven on earth~and just as powerful as a sunset on the ocean waters equating, for me personally, a third holy place in my life. ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME

Attending a local women’s worship conference recently sparked a memory that I thought was worthy of sharing with you this week.  As I find so often in my life, God’s perfect timing to even hear about this conference two days before it was scheduled via our Christian radio station and realizing my schedule would permit me to attend, sure blessed me big time!

I did attempt to ask one friend if she was free to attend with me but she was not, so off I went solo, which is always fine with me too.  The people were very friendly and welcoming and at the beginning of the second day of the event, a lady came over and started talking to me.  It was cool to find out that she too, did not know anyone there but decided to participate anyway.  As we conversed and sat together at lunch, I learned that she actually knows of a friend of mine that lives in the same development as her.  In fact they exercise together though they never really conversed up to this point.  I wonder if they might now since they know a mutual person…me!  🙂

At this conference, there were a few different speakers you could pick from to listen to.  I stuck with the main guest speaker, Lynn Cowell, who is a part of the Proverbs 31 ministry for any readers out there who might be familiar with it.  I had not really known about the organization,  but have since signed up for a wonderful daily devotional they share weekdays.

SILENCE

The first day of school this year for my youngest son started with him in the middle of a shower when suddenly the power went out quite unexpectedly!  I guess kind of fortunately, he didn’t have shampoo in his hair when that happened; instead it had to be a “no shampoo” day for him!  Our house has a well for water, not city water, so when the power goes out we do not really have water either! Not the best way to start the school year but it ended up much better than six years ago when our area experienced a flood that afternoon and was without electricity for 5 days. This time it was only a few hours. Continue reading “SILENCE”
