DEAFENING SILENCE

I had the privilege of attending a retreat recently where God provided several blessings. I was renewed and filled with joy at experiencing the Spirit’s presence. One way was by being able to go outside to view the lake, the few colorful leaves remaining on the trees this fall, and the pure beauty of the whole area. The temperature was warm enough to not freeze, despite being November, which was an extra blessing.

Retreats are always a great time to be still with the Lord, as we take time to get away from the busyness of life and the often hectic pace at which we live. A favorite verse that comes to mind is: Continue reading “DEAFENING SILENCE”

ENGULFED IN DEEP WATERS

How I relish being engulfed in God’s presence and love while vacationing at a lake-front cottage on Lake Ontario, where the beauty of God’s creation is endless. My spirit was filled with oneness and unity with God while spending a week there in the quietness. Well, actually, it wasn’t quite so quiet this time. Most of the days, Lake Ontario sounded like a mighty ocean as the wind made the waves the highest and most violent I’ve seen there. It never ceases to amaze me how God made this lake to sometimes be as still and calm as a sheet of glass and other times a sea of endless, tumultuous waves. It is beautiful to experience both and see how God is present in both. Isn’t that the perfect parallel with our lives? God is present with us each moment, in both the difficult storms of life and in the peaceful, calm times of our lives too! Continue reading “ENGULFED IN DEEP WATERS”

What a wonderful journey God has orchestrated in my life since He put people in my path that led to the beginning of my website  8½ years ago, which has given birth to a  trinity of books in three years. I am in awe of Him, especially as it was never anything I planned to do. Continue reading “JOYOUS ONENESS”

THE POWER OF THOUGHTS

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.”  –John 14:1  (NLT)

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples after He told them He would only be with them a little longer.  He knew the appointed time for Him to return to God was coming quickly.  Jesus did not want their hearts to be troubled while they waited to be reunited with Him in heaven.  They needed to trust God in everything.

Jesus knew the disciples would be sad and scared of being alone, so He stressed the importance of trusting in God.  He wanted them to have a positive attitude, trust, and not dwell on the negative. Continue reading “THE POWER OF THOUGHTS”

MY PEACE I GIVE YOU

This year during Holy Week I felt inspired to read about Jesus’ last days on this earth, about His death and resurrection, taking into account all four gospels; to see the differences and the similarities.  It was then captivating to continue on with reading the book of Acts journeying with the disciples after Jesus ascended into heaven returning to God, the Father.

PEACE is one recurring theme that struck me especially in the gospel of John.

Jesus wanted His disciples to have peace both once Jesus died and when He returned to heaven at the Ascension.

Along with His Peace, Jesus also gave some commissions to the disciples; what they needed to be doing after Jesus ascended back to God, His Father.

THE QUIET PRESENCE

When I think about Jesus walking on this earth, I envision Him as most of the time having a quiet, mostly calming presence about Him.

Going about life taking time to pray several times throughout the day to His Father,

healing in His Father’s name,

gracing those He encountered with His unconditional love and peace.

Do you have those people in your life that you would say have a quiet, calming presence in your life?

I bet even more so you might have certain artists or songs that, if by chance you are stressed or experiencing a degree of anxiety, you turn to help relieve those symptoms or that help shift your focus. Continue reading “THE QUIET PRESENCE”

LIVE IN PEACE

“So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go.  First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”  –Matthew 5:23-24  (ESV)

And when you stand to pray, if you hold anything against another, forgive it, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your trespasses as well.”  –Mark 11:25  (BSB)

Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.  –Romans 12:18 (NLT)

Aren’t those some pretty powerful lessons that Jesus is teaching us about how we ought to be living each day in our Christian lives?

LOVE NOT SHAME

Jesus’ death on the cross brought into our lives LOVE, no longer Shame!

SHAME….

One definition is:

a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. Continue reading “LOVE NOT SHAME”

ONE WAY

We all face struggles, trials, and problems in this world. They are a part of life.

Have you ever noticed how some people handle those things better than others?  Maybe you know some people who always complain, find fault, are negative?  And maybe you know some that just seem to handle adversity differently….maybe they are still positive and look at the bright side of life.
